The Milky Way as seen from the UK

This weekend on Saturday February 13 the Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden in Norfolk will be open for a night of stargazing.

Fairhaven is opening their grounds for the evening, in partnership with the Norwich Astronomical Society, plus there will feature a talk from TV astronomer Mark Thompson. It is advised that if you have a telescope to bring it along, though there will be a chance to use one there, but no torches as they can destroy your night vision and prevent you from having a good view of the stars.

Previous events have been a success, and experienced astronomers with telescopes will be on hand to give guidance for viewing the night sky. As well as the usual stars and constellations to be seen in the Northern Hemisphere, some planets could be seen over the weekend.

From 7.00pm to 11.00pm on Saturday, this stargazing event will be an enjoyable evening for anyone having their holidays in Norfolk at any of our Tingdene Parks. Other evening events are held throughout the year.

Hot food, tea, coffee and cake will be available, but remember to wrap up warm.
