With just a few weeks to go before Christmas you may well be busy shopping for presents this weekend, but if you’re not and you’re looking for something to do near our Norfolk holiday homes, why not try out some of these events.


Poringland Farmers’ Market (9.30am – 1pm)

With more than 20 stalls selling fresh seasonal produce, homemade jams, free range eggs, locally reared pork and beef, cider, plants, local bread, cheese, beer, cakes and lots more this is one market well worth popping along to.

Not only can you buy all sorts of fantastic products, but you can grab a spot of lunch at the onsite café.

Sandringham Park Christmas Park (10am – 6pm)          

This fantastic Christmas market has a mix of attractions for adults and children alike.

There are plenty of arts and crafts, regional food and drink and unusual gifts on offer for adults hunting for the perfect present while children will enjoy the Fiery Jack Show and performances by Santa chainsaw carvers. There are also two showings of a panto for children, with actors performing Beauty and the Beast.

Tickets cost £6.50 for adults, £6 for concessions and £2 for children.

Glyndebourne – Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail (7pm)

The National Opera company returns to Norwich’s Theatre Royal to perform, not one, not two, but three diverse operas. With stunning costumes and imaginative productions underpinned by breathtaking music and performances from the next generation of opera stars it promises to be a night not to miss. Tickets cost between £8 and £53.


Norwich Half Marathon (10.30am)

Head into Norwich on Sunday morning to catch both elite and charity runners racing through the city.

With the start and finish of the race both taking place at the Norfolk Showground you can head there to see people crossing the line, or catch some of the action in the parishes of Easton, Honingham, Colton, Barnham Broom, Marlingford and close to Easton College

Great Yarmouth Christmas market (10am – 4pm)

Sunday sees another great Christmas market taking place, this time with free admission.

The Great Yarmouth Market offers traditional festive entertainment as well as plenty art and crafts gifts. Children are sure to be entertained by the snow-globe photo booth and visiting characters from Frozen.

On top of all that, there’s also an ice rink, priced at £6 for adults and £4 for children.

Swaffham Christmas lights switch on (Midday, switch on at 4.30pm)

The annual lights switch on festivities start at midday in Swaffham in the marketplace. With stalls, music, a funfair and a celebrity guest dressed in red arriving on a sleigh this is a real fun family day out.
