One of Britain’s most celebrated artists, Peter Blake, is showing a range of his work at a gallery in Essex this February. Hayletts Gallery in Maldon will be exhibiting a selection of his art work from now until February 27.
Blake has made a big name for himself in the art and design world since the 1960s. His take on Pop Art brought him fame even before Andy Warhol rose to prominence. Blake has been named as an influence for a number of other key British artists like Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin.
A long and varied career has followed; he redesigned the BRIT award statuettes in 2012 and created the iconic album cover of The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper. Blake’s signature style incorporates items of popular culture, photographs and advertising images.
The exhibition at Hayletts will span from his earlier work to present day, and you will find familiar images and iconography within his work. It is an unmissable day out for anyone in or visiting the area, taking a break during half-term holidays in Essex.
Hayletts Gallery is at Oakwood House 2 High Street, Maldon. The exhibit is open from10am – 5pm, Tuesdays through to Saturdays. Find out more at www.haylettsgallery.com
