The British Art Show 8, which celebrates the country’s leading role in the international art scene, is being held in Norwich and people in their thousands have been flocking to view the art on show.
The Hayward Touring exhibition features over 100 works of art from 42 artists, and is in Norwich until the 4th September. It is being hosted in two venues; Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery and Norwich University of Arts.
Located close to our holiday parks in Norfolk, it is proving to be extremely popular. In the first month of being on show, the exhibition has attracted over 14,000 visitors and with many attractions still to come, this number is expected to rise further.
Speaking of the event, manager of NUA’s East Gallery Dr Caroline Fisher said: “BAS8 has had a wonderful reception from visitors... Norwich University of the Arts has been frequently complimented on our student ‘Live Guides’ who are on hand to help people interpret the works in the exhibition, deepening visitors’ experience of the work.
“People have generally been surprised, thrilled and inspired by the amazing range of art at BAS8 – often expanding their idea of what art can be.”
There are still plenty of events taking place, inspired by BAS8, including a performance by Northern Ballet, inspired by work created by the artist Linder, taking place on Friday 12th August, and much more!
