An Essex based butcher has won an award for making the most innovative sausage, beating hundreds of entries to win the prize.
Robert Moss, runs Primrose Farm Butchers in Great Bromley, and entered his recipe of pork and ginger sausage. This banger is aptly named Autumn Bliss, and was submitted into the Sausages of Distinction awards.
It was one of 630 entries from across Britain that made it into the competition, and Mr Moss was only one of seven butchers who won a Best Innovative Sausage award.
Primrose Farm Butchers has been in business since 2007, and Mr Moss sells his produce locally, to pubs, farm shops and farmers markets. His brilliant recipe has won himself a rather famous admirer, in the shape of Michelin star chef Michel Roux Jr, who was at the award ceremony at Smiths of Smithfield in London.
When asked about the recipes, he said: “I have always enjoyed experimenting with classic dishes and ingredients, without compromising on quality – with sausages you can do so much.”
The Primrose Farm Butchers recipe includes a ginger conserve available from Wilkin and Sons of Tiptree.
