With Love from Suffolk is a new romantic comedy that was written, shot in and starring people from across Suffolk. Designed to be a draw for the film world, the production process has been a labour of love for all involved, but the county’s creative talent is soon to hit the big screen.
The self-funded film was conceived in the style of Love, Actually and New York, I Love You and features local talent, as well as being made by locals utilising some great Suffolk locations.
Producer Julien Mery has said: “It’s a proper home-made film in the best sense of the word. It’s about creating an entertaining film for Valentine’s but also providing a valuable platform for the creative talent of Suffolk.”
The film contains eight stories woven together with a linking narrative. Similar to the filming style of New York, I Love You each segment was written and directed by someone different, bringing together a bigger collaboration and edited by Julien and producer Matthew McGuchen.
Financed with the help of crowd-funding, the schedule was tough, with multiple units working on the film at the same time and some members of the crew only available for a certain amount for filming, but the makers are proud of the outcome. The producers, along with Film Suffolk, hope the film will be the start for visiting productions to Suffolk to also use local talent.
To visit any of the locations used whilst filming, stay in any of our holiday homes in Suffolk and enjoy spending time taking in stunning views and the friendly atmosphere of Suffolk towns.
The film’s premiere is at Riverside Cinema in Woodbridge next weekend, coinciding with Valentine’s Day celebrations.
