Waiter collecting food from busy restaurant kitchen

Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge is makes his way back to Norwich for an evening at Delia’s, Carrow Road’s restaurant owned and inspired by famous chef and NCFC shareholder Delia Smith.

Tom Kerridge, owner of the first pub to gain a Michelin star, rose to fame when he starred on the Great British Menu in 2009 and 2010, going on to feature in and present many food programmes across the BBC and other channels. He famously lost 11 stone in 2017 and has since fronted his own Lose Weight For Food TV show and added two weight loss cooking books to his collection.

Tom Kerridge in Norwich

Tom is no stranger to Norwich; he was appointed his first head chef role in 2003 by David Adlard, who was the first chef to earn a Michelin star in East Anglia. Local legend Adlard’s was first established in Norwich in 1990 and stayed a firm favourite in Norfolk fine dining for 18 years, finally closing its doors in 2007 when Adlard retired and moved onto running a guesthouse. The head chef of Adlard’s at the time took over the premises in 2010, where it continues to thrive as 3 AA Rosette-awarded Roger Hickman’s Restaurant.

“I think the main thing I learned from David Adlard was the understanding of making your own business work – how to drive things forward in your own way… how to make decisions that are solely yours,” Tom explains.

Tom also did a guest spot at another of Norwich’s acclaimed restaurants, Benedicts, upholding 3 AA rosettes for the 2020 guide. Tom joined the team for one night in 2018 alongside owner Richard Bainbridge, who has had the restaurant down historic St Benedicts since 2015, following his win on BBC2’s Great British Menu that year after a career working alongside renowned chefs such as Michel Roux Sr and Norfolk based Galton Blackiston.

Top Norwich restaurant Benedicts was listed in the Sunday Times in 2016, when we went along to visit behind the scenes. At the heart of the restaurant is celebrity chef Richard Bainbridge producing some amazing dishes!
