If you fancy yourself as a bit of a 'Lovejoy' and think you know your Art Decco to your Art Nouveau, Suffolk has a goldmine of Antique stores and events. Here are the best places to explore...

The coast near our Suffolk holiday lets with boat moorings has a plethora of Antiques up for grabs. Beccles street market is taking place on the 30th April 2017 - so whether you are a pro or novice in the world of antiques this would be a great event to visit.

The market plays host to many general and specialist dealers selling a wide range of good quality antiques and collectables including furniture, silver, china, jewellery, books, clocks, retro and vintage design and decorative items. Many of the restaurants, shops and bars are open that day and first class local ‘street food’ catering is incorporated into the market, including a hog roast. Give it a visit and experience the pleasure of a busy outdoor specialist market. (8am – 4pm.)

As well as a trip to Beccles - a trip to Suffolk House Antiques in Saxmundham is definately worth a visit! Established in 1991 by Andrew Singleton and a member of the British Antiques Dealers Association since 1995, Suffolk House Antiques has one of the largest selections of quality early oak and country furniture and associated works of art in the UK.

You probably didnt realise but the BBC show Lovejoy, which ran on Sunday evenings between 1986 and 1994 and starred actor Ian McShane in the lead role as a roguish antiques dealer, was mostly filmed in Suffolk! Around 15 million viewers regularly tuned in to see the antics of lovable scoundrel Lovejoy wheeling and dealing in locations such as Long Melford, Cavendish and Lavenham.
