An 80s celebration open-air concert with 80s acts that have enjoyed worldwide success is bound to bring the south park at Holkham alive! On stage will be Level 42 with special guests Go West, Big Country, Heatwave, Jaki Graham and Nathan Moore from Brother Beyond. Concert goers will be hard pushed to keep off their feet, with the party atmosphere that these hit-making chart success acts will be producing.
Top of the bill are the English pop, rock and jazz funk band Level 42, featuring the legendary bass player Mark King. To date the band and its lead singer and bassist Mark King have released 14 studio albums, 7 live albums, an EP and 6 compilation albums. The band is a multi-million selling 80s success story and they have sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide, as well as enjoying top ten singles including ‘Lessons In Love’, ‘Something About You’, ‘Leaving Me Know’, ‘Running in the Family’ and ‘Hot Water’. The band has also enjoyed chart success in the USA and their tours of Europe and the UK have been sell outs; selling out at Wembley Arena for a total of 21 nights.
Special guests on the 80s Celebration and joining Level 42 will be ‘Go West’, formed in 1982 by Peter Cox and Richard Drunnie. Go West enjoyed phenomenal popularity in the late 80s and early 90s and are best known for their international top ten hits ‘We Close Our Eyes’ and ‘Call Me’. In 1987 they released ‘Dancing on the Couch’ which made the UK top 20. In 1990 Go West scored a UK top ten hit with the track ‘King Of Wishful Thinking’ from the film ‘Pretty Woman’, followed in 1992 by the ‘Indian Summer’ album which included ‘Faithful’, another hit in the USA, as well as the UK.
Joining the impressive line-up of 80s hit making stars are the legendary Scottish rockers ‘Big Country’. Big Country’s first single was ‘Harvest Home’. Their next single ‘Fields of Fire (400 miles)’ was a UK top ten hit and was rapidly followed by the album ‘The Crossing,’ which also enjoyed top 20 chart success in the USA. Other hits include ‘Chance’, ‘Wonderland’ and ‘Look Away’. Their unique use of guitar-driven sounds are combined with the spirit of bag pipes, fiddles and other traditional Scottish instruments. Big Country are headlining a ‘UK Invasion Tour’ prior to jetting over to New Zealand and Australia before they appear at Holkham Hall on August 27th.
Also joining the all-star hit making line up are the legendary ‘Heatwave’, who enjoyed chart success from 1975 through to the mid-1980s. Hits include, ‘Too Hot To Handle’, ‘Boogie Nights’ and ‘Always and Forever’.
Jaki Graham is a three times Grammy nominated British singer and songwriter. Following Jacki’s hit version of ‘Could It Be I’m Falling In Love’ with David Grant, she scored further top 20 hits, including ‘Round and Round’, ‘Breaking Away’ and ‘Set Me Free’. In 1994 Jaki’s version of ‘Ain’t Nobody’ reached number 1 in the US billboard dance charts. Completing the all-star line-up is ‘Nathan Moore’ from Brother Beyond who enjoyed a number 2 hit here in the UK with ‘The Harder I Try’. The song had a distinct Motown feel, as did their next hit ‘He Ain’t No Competition’. The band also enjoyed success in the USA with ‘The Girl I Used To Know’.
