A UK holiday home is your get away all the year round. So let’s take a look back at the hot topics from all this year round…

In February, the reading matter was all about romance obviously

The big topic for the month of Valentine was ideas for romantic holiday home locations:

Tingdene Broadlands Park and Marina in Suffolk

Broadlands Park & Marina has been called a ‘village within a village’. They also say it’s like a ‘gateway to the Broads’.  Either way it’s perfectly placed for this most romantic part of the East Anglian landscape.

You could wander over to Southwold and explore the galleries and independent shops. You could also try Adnams Brewery. Why wouldn’t you?

Waveney River Centre in Norfolk

Speaking of the Broads, another perfect Broadside location for a holiday home is at Waveney River Centre. An a holiday home in Norfolk means quick access to some stunning and romantic sunset locations.

North Denes Caravan Park in Suffolk

In Lowestoft, at the most easterly point of the UK, is where you can start your Valentines Day - and every day for that matter - with the earliest sun rise. The earlier the day starts the more time you have - together. How romantic is that?

In fact, Tingdene North Denes is the UK’s most easterly caravan park. A calm and tranquil spot. And it could be a great place for romance.

Mablethorpe Chalet & Caravan Park in Lincolnshire

A special night at the cinema it doesn’t come more intimate than a visit to the The Kinema in the Woods. Multiplex it isn’t - this is a 92 seat gem of a place opened over 100 years ago in 1922!

Tingdene Mablethorpe Park, with its traditional cedar chalets and contemporary caravans are right nearby!

Redcar Beach Caravan Park in North Yorkshire

This is an area famous for romantic restaurants. It’s also got a lot of lovely paces to visit; places like Roseberry Topping. Many a couple has made it to the top to take in the stunning scenery. Plus, there’s the famous town of Whitby from which Dracula hails from, which is a love story deep down…

South Shore in East Yorkshire

Wine and romance often go together…Yorkshire’s Little Wold Vineyard harvested its first crop in 2016 and now grows seven different grape varieties, and even offer tasting tours.

Tingdene South Shore, just south of Bridlington is in an area people have loved to holiday in for decades. Isn’t that romantic.

In March, it was a bit more about head than heart

The big question was -  is buying a static caravan a good investment?

Why buy a static caravan?

It’s a great way to own your own holiday home. It’s a less travelling, more green, less hassle, more chilled way to holiday. A long stay in summer, or a weekend break in spring. Or any time. You choose. You get the feel of a caravan, the spirit of somewhere that’s not a house or a hotel. But you don’t lose out on luxury. You get the fun, and the freedom. And you get some financial positives too.

Where do we start?

Start with the location, the crucial element for any holiday home decision. It’s all about what you like to do and see. England’s most easterly caravan park, North Denes Caravan Park, is a fantastic location for a static caravan. Or try Caldecott Hall Country Park in nearby Norfolk, perfect if you like golf. Further north there’s Mablethorpe Chalet & Caravan Park, within striking distance of the Lincolnshire Wolds, and Redcar Beach Caravan Park on the stunning coasts of North Yorkshire.

Can we get help with buying a static caravan?

Yes. And in truth it’s recommended that you do. North Denes, Caldecott Hall and Mablethorpe Chalet Park all have static caravans for sale. And if anyone can help and guide you on how best to choose, buy and maintain a static caravan holiday home it’s Tingdene.

Fancy a move? Tingdene certainly have parks where they’ll welcome your static caravan. So it’s not only a good investment but in reality ‘static’ doesn’t aways have to mean ‘static’.

Is buying a static caravan a good investment?

There are several factors to take into account here - a static caravan won’t increase in value in the same way that a ‘bricks and mortar’ holiday home typically does. But, the positive side to that is that a static caravan costs less to buy at the outset, and will give you years of enjoyment.

If making memories is high on your checklist then a static caravan is of course a great investment.

By April, the the big question was holiday home happiness

May was all about mindfulness

We’re all more mindful of mindfulness now. And there were some great tips on why owning your own holiday home is better for you:

In June, it was a bit more physical

Summer finally arrived!

In the Summer time, there were simple holiday home pleasures to discuss…

  1. Reading
How many times have you said you don’t read enough? A holiday home is the perfect place to leave some of your favourite novels and indulge in the time to curl up with a good book.

  2. Cycling
If you’re the type of person into serious cycling, then having your own holiday home is a great way to set up a ‘base camp’. Or if just pottering around is what you’re planning then having a cycle ride or two around your holiday home location is just as good.

  3. Eating
Local ingredients, new restaurants to try, BBQs in the summer or even Christmas dinner at your holiday home. Food can be the centre of your holiday experiences.

  4. Visiting
From thrilling theme park rides to historic buildings, as well as parks, gardens, museums and galleries. Seaside resorts with all the fun of the fair or quiet coastal retreats with their own secluded allure.

And then, when summer ends your holiday home comes into its own….

This was about the all year round benefits of having a holiday home of your own:

UK landscapes aren’t all about summer! We all love a summer break, but so much of the UK’s scenery is stunning all year. And there’s so many wonderful events to enjoy around the country at all times of the year. Take a look at Lincolnshire Showground for what goes on all year round, like the annual Lincolnshire Food and Gift Show in November, a perfect time for Christmas gifts.

A holiday home means you’ve got somewhere to go “out of season”, which often means it’s quieter and less expensive! Plus, before or after Summer is a great time to start visiting places with buying a holiday home in mind!

Soon it was Autumn…

There was much talk about Norfolk holiday homes about now and it was a simple spooky step into Halloween. Because as beautiful as Norfolk is, it can also be spooky!

As can lots of other locations around the UK…take a look, if you dare.

And then all of a sudden, it was Christmas again!

There were tips on how to decorate your holiday home - going to local fairs, buying local food, choosing decor themes, selecting a tree and decorating your holiday home right through - right through every room, right through the holiday season.

So that was 2023! And maybe 2024 is the year you should focus on all the benefits owning a UK holiday home brings. In the meantime - Happy New Year!
