Walking has long been known to be beneficial to your health, as it is an easy activity to do and can be done alone, with friends or part of a big group. This year, Suffolk County Council launched 2016 to be the Year of Walking to coincide with the Suffolk Walking Festival from May 14 to June 5.
It kicks off with a celebration of the best walks the county has to offer. The Festival has packed 70 different walks you can take part in over the next three weeks, starting tomorrow on May 14.
The walks cover every part of the county and there is something for everyone, whatever your level of walking ability. You can enjoy a gentle stroll through the streets of a Suffolk village, a challenging hike along the coastal paths, or a wander through the beautiful countryside.
The aim of the Year of Walking is to get people on their feet and enjoying the fresh air, and with the warm summer heading our way, walks out in the Suffolk countryside are something you are sure to enjoy.
All the walks the Council are planning have a theme, and range in length and time. One of the walks has been arranged to be suitable for parents with prams, and there are walks with a speed-dating theme, bird watching, Pilates, photography and much more.
If you are staying at any of our holiday villas or chalets in Suffolk, you can join in the walking fun of the Suffolk Walking Festival and take in the sights of Suffolk.
